The English Premier League: A Brief Economic History
Prof. Dr. Wray Vamplew (范普鲁 博士、教授)
Wray Vamplew is Emeritus Professor of Sports History at the University of Stirling and Visiting Research Professor in Exercise and Sport Science at Manchester Metropolitan University. Previously he had been Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the Flinders University of South Australia, Head of Arts and Humanities at De Montfort University and Director of Research in Sports Studies at Stirling. He founded the International Centre for Sports History and Culture at De Montfort University in 1996 and developed a FIFA-sponsored Master’s degree involving universities in Switzerland and Italy. He is former Editor of the Journal of Sport History. He is now Special Projects Editor for the IJHS. He has been elected a Fellow of the European Committee for Sports History, the Royal Historical Society, the British Society for Sports History, and the Royal Society of Arts. Currently he is working on a trans-national study of the economic history of sport and editing a six-volume collection on The Cultural History of Sport for Bloomsbury.

James M. Dorsey is professor at the Nanyang Technological University and a Senior Fellow focused on the Middle East and North Africa who publishes widely in peer-reviewed journals as well as non-academic publications. A veteran, award-winning foreign correspondent for four decades in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, Europe and the United States for publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and the Financial Times, James has met a multitude of the region’s leaders. James writes a widely acclaimed blog, The Turbulent World of Middle East Soccer, has published a book with the same title, and authors a syndicated column. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences, workshops and seminars and is consulted by governments, corporations and judicial authorities.

Dr. James Kitching (基钦 博士)
Dr. James Kitching joined the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in July 2012. As Head of Sports Legal Services, Disciplinary and Governance, James leads a unit responsible for all sports regulatory matters. James is the Secretary to the AFC judicial bodies, represents the AFC in matters before the Court of Arbitration for Sport, drafts and interprets regulations, oversees legal issues at AFC competitions and advises a variety of stakeholders on matters related to governance within the global and Asian sports framework. In 2016, James was appointed by the Australian Olympic Committee to its National Federation appeals panel for Olympic selection disputes.

Tan Jianxiang is professor at South China Normal University. His research interests are sports industry, sports policies in China, the promotion of mega-sports events, management of sports venues, and professional soccer development in China. He has published many peer-reviewed journal articles and monographs in China and finished many research projects at national level in China.

Dr. Masahiro Sugiyama is secretary to the AFC Development Committee. He also works in the Sports Centre at University of Malaya. His main research interest is football development in Japan and Southeast Asia, with specific to grassroots football development in Japan.

Dr. Andy Fuller (菲莱 博士)
Dr. Andy Fuller is an independent researcher and journalist who focuses on sports culture in Indonesia, Australia and The Netherlands. His primary focus is on football fandom. He is the editor of the multi-authored blog, Reading Sideways (.net). He has held research positions at KITLV (Leiden), IIAS (Leiden) and The University of Macau (China).

Dr. Ben Weinberg (温伯格 博士)
Dr. Ben Weinberg works for GIZ (German Intl. Cooperation) in the “Sport for Development” unit, where he is responsible for advising the German government on sport policy matters, facilitating partnerships as well as managing projects in the field. He holds academic degrees from the German Sport University Cologne, University of Bonn and University College Cork. With distinct knowledge of national and international sport policy and foreign relations, he has been consulted as moderator and speaker, guest lecturer and has made various publications.

Dr. Jorge Knijnik (里尼克 博士)
Dr. Jorge Knijnik is a senior lecturer in the School of Education and a researcher in the Institute for Culture & Society at Western Sydney University (NSW, Australia). Jorge’s overarching research interests focus on topics of social justice, gender, multiculturalism and human rights and social inclusion. Jorge has three established areas of significant achievements in research, teaching and community involvement which address those issues: sport in society, gender education and Physical Education.

Prof. Dr. Li Hai (李海博士、教授)
Li Hai is professor at Shanghai University of Sport. His research interests are sports gambling, sports lottery, professional sport and the marketization of sport in China. He has published many peer-reviewed journal articles and monographs in China and the West (SSCI). He also finished several research projects which were sponsored by China’s national social science fund.

Dr. Eric C. Schwarz (施瓦兹 博士)
Dr. Eric C. Schwarz is a senior lecturer of Sport Management, coordinator of the postgraduate courses in Sport Business and Integrity, and an Associate in the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Active Living (ISEAL) at Victoria University. Eric’s research concentrates on sport marketing and sport facility and event management. He has a specific focus on the marketing of hallmark and major sports games and events, including bid processes, and the inception, acquisition and event implementation. Through his consultancy work, he was involved with public relations and advertorial efforts related to the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games bids for Beijing, China and Almaty, Kazahkstan.
